Let it Snow.........

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

This is going to be my last post for X-mas in July. I hope you all had fun! You know, something different.

The creation I have today is a card. I found this as a JPEG somewhere and I just thought it was to die for. I need to tell you a little problem though. I have placed dash lines in what I though was the center, for you to bend the card. Well........one side is about 1/8th longer than the other. So instead of refooling around with the whole card what you need to do is place the black pannel on the larger side. Bend the card so you know the black paper is lined up with your edge. Now trim off the excess white paper. The card will now be equal on both sides.

As some of you know I am on several Yahoo Groups and I put my GSD's there too but can you believe I am running out of ideas? I have no kids and I have finished most of my scrapbooks. So you can see I am just doing this for the fun. Do you need something created? Can I help you in anyway? I will not do any copyrighted items. :( Sorry for that.

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your X-mas in July and I will see you in August! :)

Hugs, Lisa

How Time Flys.....

Here is the second to the last Christmas in July die cut. Boy how the holidays do fly. haha I like this tree, as clipart, because it was different. It fits differently on the black outline. Now what this picture kinda shows is I used this stuff called Glitter Foam Paint by Deco Art. I was hoping it was going to be white with glitter but it's clear. Trust me it looks cute in person. Did you know that you can use Puffy Paint on paper? You know the kind you use on T-shirts and I bet it's cheaper than a "scrapbook" item. So enjoy this silly but not so Charlie Brown silly Christmas tree.

Week 3

Boy I guess I should have do something with snow. lol It is steamy here and it's only going to get worse tomorrow and the next few days.

I chose this candle because I thought it was cute. I know that this is Christmas in July but this candle is so versatile..... You can use it for Hanukkah or if you alter it a bit and take off the snow, I thought you could use it for Birthday.

You need to becareful when you cut the stars. I think I need a new blade but they cut pretty good. They are VERY small if you keep them the size I did.

You all have a good week and have a cool week! :)

Week 2

Happy week 2 of the Christmas in July. Are you guys tired of the Summer yet? I bet the friends in Australia are, but then again it really doesn't get that cold there. lol Here are some ornaments for you to use. You know I was thinking, if you change the colors you can use them for your Chanukah pages too. I was also thinking it needed some "sparkle." I love glitter but I'm not sure where to put it on the ornaments. If you have an idea, let me know. :)

If I don't post sooner, have a good week.

Bell Card

This is the first of 4 Christmas in July. I think it turn out really pretty. Cut the card out, per GSD. Now I used my Sakura Quickie Glue Pen. I have said it before and I will say it again, these pens are the bomb. The glue flows like butter and it is a fine tip. Then I used JoAnn Craft Essentials fine glitter. I bought the glitter in a HUGE compartment jar, well that's what they call it, for $6.99. Of course use your coupons and it doesn't hurt as bad. :) I sprinkled the glitter on and this is what I got. Now your card will look like a "templet." Maybe I will trace then color the bells. Eithe way just make sure you do not write a message that will show through the bells.

Oh These bells look great as a wedding card too.

Christmas in July

Have you guys ever heard of this? We don't give gifts or anything. :( We don't decorate like we do in December. So why we say Christmas in July is clueless for me. Maybe I should Google it... Oh look, I did...heehee or should I say HoHoHo.

Christmas in July, alternatively Holiday(s) in July in the United States, is a party concept exploited as a marketing opportunity. It generally occurs during the month of July coincidentally near July 26, the feast day of Saint Joachim and Saint Anne, the grandparents of Jesus.

In Western culture, Christmas occurs on December 25. With Christmas generally comes gift-giving and much holiday cheer. During the summer months in the northern hemisphere, the weather becomes increasingly warm and many people crave the atmosphere of cooler temperatures, gift giving, and holiday spirit. To satisfy this craving, some people throw parties during the month of July that mimic the holiday of Christmas. Features of Christmas in July include Santa Clause, ice cream and other cold foods, and gifts. Often nightclubs host parties open to the public.

Technically, if one wanted to hold an event to mark the halfway point in between consecutive Christmases, one should hold the event on June 24th (midsummer in Europe Nativity of St. John the Baptist for Catholics), which is seven days before the month of July. Thus, theoretically, the name should be "Christmas in June". However, Christmas and December are generally equated with colder temperatures and in the Northern Hemisphere the average temperatures in July are generally higher than those in June, thus the name Christmas in July is appropriate. In addition, the Scandinavian word for Yule is Jul, which happens to be the abbreviation for July in English. Additionally, July is the seventh month, seven being an important number in Christian doctrine.

All I know is EVERYBODY makes it a sale here. It doesn't matter if you are buying flooring, windows, or even underwear, there is a Christmas in July Sale. For this month I have decided that all files I share, will be in the way of the Christmas holiday. I might throw in some snow. I'm not sure yet.

If I'm not busy, I'll post my first file.

Hugs, Lisa
